Secrets of Kriya yoga

Kriya Yoga is one of the ancient systems of meditation which is famous in India and it has spread in many parts of the world by the effort of Indian masters.

Kriya yoga is considered to be the fastest way of realizing the truth or the fastest way to realize our own identity. For a long time, the techniques of Kriya yoga were kept secret and guarded in the Himalayan ranges, by the practitioners. It was spreading from a Guru directly to his disciples.

The masters of the Kriya yoga lineage starts from Mahavatar Babaji, as generally known. Though there were many other masters before Babaji, it was Babaji who made it available to the mankind out of grace and compassion.

What makes Kriya yoga special?

There are different systems of meditation. Some give emphasis on observing the breath, some give importance on observing the thoughts, some give stress on observing different sensations on the body and some stress on concentrating on the chakras. It is all the different paths to reach the same destination. We need to select the shortest route to reach the destination at the earliest possibility. That is where Kriya yoga gains its significance, providing the shortest route, as claimed by the great masters.

What is the techinique?

In the lineage of Kriya yoga, it is always emphasized that the technique be kept secret. There are a few important reasons for this. It helps in keeping the technique pure as one would be forced to learn from the authentic source. In the past, the great masters gave techniques with slight variation according to the individual. If discussed regarding this variation, it might bring unnecessary confusion and a practitioner may not be able to practice properly.

Without going into the exact details, this article will shed some light on the way Kriya yoga is practiced. Kriya yoga consists of a set of techniques of which Kriya pranayama is the most important one. In Kriya pranayama(kriya means a technique) the prana shakti (life force) is rotated in a specific manner inside the sushumna channel (a subtler channel in the spine). Each such rotation is considered equal to the evolution of 1 year in this plane (earth). This is why the evolution of a Kriya yogi (practitioner of Kriyas) is considered superior.

Kriya yoga taken to west

The great yogi, Paramahansa Yogananda played an important role in taking the teachings of Kriya yoga to the west. It was through this book, Autobiography of a Yogi, kriya yoga was popularized in many countries of the world. The words of Paramahansa Yogananda would have special influence on you if you are already in the process of search and it is worth having this great asset.

  1. Dear Jeyaprakash my name is Lee my yoga name is Anadanda I practice kriya yoga ( especially the pranayamas to the best of my abilities.) I know there are many kriya pranayamas that Babaji uses to achieve physical immortality( I practice the kriya pranayama from the spine chraka to the crown chraka, I also practice the ambrosial fluid kriya pranayama where I take my tongue back to my mouth where it excreates ambrosial fluid to my pituarty gland so I can achieve physical immortality like Babaji.) I know there are many kriya pranayamas, kriya meditations, mudras, mantras that Babaji and the kriya masters practice to achieve: physical immortality, God consciousness, and the desires of life ( in my case "true love, God's love" with a wife, money for: Babaji, you, Jesus, wife. Can you please email me these techniques of kriya so I can achieve: physical immortality, God ( me,you), the desires of life. Om Namaha Shiviya, Lee (Anadanda) leesilber7@gmail.com.

    1. Dear Lee, I am happy to have your comment here. Glad you are a kriya yoga sadhak. As you already know there are different ways of moving the prana inside the sushumna. It is said that Shri Lahari baba gave different techniques to different people. I feel, even with the first kriya or the simple movement within spine, can bring drastic transformation. When the nectar starts secreting, the physical transformation is enhanced. I cannot give any new techniques to you. Only a guru who is able to see you at deeper levels could guide you. Or you could try connecting even with Mahavatar Babaji or any spirit guide who is ready to help you in transcendental reality. You could also explore shamanism for that if you are interested. We/Earth is in an ascending phase where physical immortality would become more common as our bodies shift from carbon based matrix to carbon-silica or silica based matrix. All that we can do is keep on putting effort, allowing the divine will to flow through. Good luck! Jeyaprakash

    1. Dear Lee, Good to have your comment. It is wonderful that you are already experiencing the secretion of the divine nectar. It transforms the body. As you might have already known, the whole of our planet is going through energetic changes and it will be easier for many to transform their physical body. With kriya pranayama, the natural changes keep happening. Try working with crystals if you are able to feel it. Sometimes, we have to just allow things to happen. Each crystal has a dominant elemental energy and it impacts different chakra/chakras. If you are able to feel them, that would be great too. Regards,Jeyaprakash

    1. Dear Lee, I do not practice kriyas day and night. For me, the energy movement happens quite well without any effort. I actually put a lot of effort to stay grounded. So, I spend very less time for Kriyas. If you explore my blog, I have written many other techniques of working on body. I did experiments with sun gazing and and tried to live with very little food for for many months. It is not required that one has to avoid food. But, some moderation helps a lot. Sun gazing opens up the energy channels very well.. But, the duration has to be increased slowly not to harm the eyes or body. These days, I dont even practice sun gazing. I feel the difference if I stay inside the house or if I stand in the balcony where there is more sunlight. Body becomes sensitive and starts absorbing the prana when the subtle channels are open enough. You may know that the immortal yogis not only used yogic practices, but also were Alchemists who were very much aware of medicines through which the physical transformation could be achieved. Such masters were also able to help others heal and rejuvenate their body even if they had no knowledge of yogic practices. Such masters are difficult to find these days. Mahavatar Babaji was blessed to have such great masters. In Tamil Nadu (South India) there were great Siddhas who lives for 600-2500 years. They extended their lives in a body so that they could achieve spiritual evolution without having to leave the body and take fresh birth. So, for immortality, we have to make the body be able to survive more on light and it naturally happens with kriyas, sun gazing, etc.. I dont work with gross medicines. But, I do work with homeo medicines to heal the body. I am sensitive enough to the medicine and so I love working with them as I love to work with crystals. Each crystal has a unique way of working.. For example, if I hold black kyanite, I can feel its strong storm element pushing the energy up along the spine. Red jasper does that in a more grounded way, slow. Amethyst works from head above.. So, each crystal has its unique way of functioning.. If you are sensitive to energy, crystals also will help you. You have to find what helps you.. Transforming the body to achieve immortality is a slow process and we cannot push it.. we are normal worldly people having the need to stay and survive in society. So, I try to have my own balance and doing my level best. Even if I dont achieve immortality, I will not be worried. We live with very gross bodies only on Earth and it is changing naturally.Earth is shifting. If you are interested in transcendental awareness, I would recommend exploring shamanism where you will come in direct communication with your spirit guides who will be able to guide you. I am not very good in that yet. My way of working is through feeling the energy body and through intuition. Regards, Jeyaprakash

  4. I've enjoyed reading this post. For the last 8 months, I've been meditating with a book called A Course in Miracles. I've been experiencing some very vivid and interesting meditations involving, my consciousness exploding through the universe, and feeling myself plummet to Heaven, taking all of us with me. Do you have any advice as I journey down this road? The main advice that ACIM gives is just to sit and relax with my eyes closed. Thank you for any suggestions.

    1. Hi.. Thanks for leaving comment and sorry for a delayed response. I was a bit away from mails.

It is wonderful that you are able to travel into the subtler worlds. Just sitting and allowing things to happen is a wonderful approach. You can also have some intention and sit for meditation and see what happens, like asking for guidance, healing. etc. You could try to explore more of your soul mission. Taking others with you to a heavenly dimension might even involve your soul mission. You may get more guidance when you explore these things when you are in deep meditation/subtler realms. You could try to meet your guiding gurus/spirits and ask for any guidance you need in the meditative state.

      Good luck on your path!

    1. I did not receive the teachings from Mahavatar Babaji, but from my Teacher/Guru Prajnananda (www.kriya.org). It is said that even Lahari Baba gave techniques with slight modifications. Moving the prana inside the sushumna is the technique.. the way one moves it may slightly vary.. No need to bother about variation. Simple movement up and down will do. Achieving the ability to move the prana inside is the key. If you are not able to move the prana with your mind, try sun gazing for short duration. It also transmutes the sexual fluids. But with regular practice, you shall be able to feel the subtle body and work on it. I dont have the desire to search for Babaji outside anywhere, as of now. When we are ready, he may visit us. Good luck with your practice. Om Kriya Babaji Nama Om.
